People call me Suze, Susan, Mohini, Mo, and Dr. Kane. (Just don't call me late for dinner!) I've been a musician for as long as I can remember. I wrote my first song at age seven and it was a #1 hit at the dinner table.
For a long time I worked diligently to create a great reputation in the classical music world. I performed with symphony orchestras both as a soloist and as a member of the Chicago Symphony Chorus, on soundtracks and on opera stages. I even earned my doctorate in music from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and became a tenured college professor, complete with a published book (The 21st-Century Singer: Making the Leap from the University into the World). All the while, writing my own songs at summer and holiday breaks as a fun hobby.
My three albums truly show my journey... A MOMENT OF JOY is all classical. FROM THE HEART is more in the ambient world of classical music - no foreign languages, in fact no words at all.
Finally, it took some decades, but I decided to make my fun hobby into my new career! My third album: WAKING UP IN WONDERLAND is in the Americana folk pop with a large dollop of spirituality and a touch of music theatre. Every song is written by me! After performing the great music of the classical composers, composing my own music was a wee bit intimidating. I had to find my own voice, my balance, and my own truth, and then apply all the amazing musical training I've been lucky enough to receive through the years. If I'm being honest, I'd have to say I'm still finding my own voice as a songwriter, and loving every step of the journey.
The reason I create music is to taste and share the nectar of happiness by writing and performing songs.
